Val Hill is a Los Angeles based composer, producer, songwriter, and filmmaker
Originally from Minsk, Belarus, Val’s connection to music began at the age of six during a wedding performance near his home. Standing beside an unattended drum kit, he picked up the sticks and began playing along with the band. After several minutes of surprised “corrections” from the bandleader, the crowd was already responding enthusiastically — and a musical journey had quietly begun.
A year later, Val entered music school, eventually graduating with top marks as a classical pianist and guitarist while already composing original music and performing in local bands. Over the years his musical path expanded through jazz, rock, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, electronic, and cinematic music.
Early exposure to American, Italian, and French cinema sparked a lasting fascination with film music. The works of composers such as Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini, Bruno Nicolai, Stelvio Cipriani, and François de Roubaix became a major creative influence, shaping his sense of atmosphere, melody, and cinematic storytelling.
Now based in Los Angeles, Val creates music and visual projects that blend cinematic composition, surreal imagery, and visual storytelling. His work explores the space between music, film, dreams, memory, and illusion.
